For this release of AGSM Star, we have decided to publish the articles as a blog instead of the usual e-magazine format. We have three different articles for this latest release, enjoy!
Message from the President
Session 3 is over! Time has flown by amazingly fast, and graduation is just around the corner!!
This session was quite different from the previous 2. We started taking our elective courses which means that, on the plus side, we got to focus on the subjects we’re more interested in, but at the same time it was much harder to interact with students you don’t share classes with. The session was also different because we had outgoing and incoming exchange students; it was very interesting to meet new people, listen to their experiences from their home schools and have new perspectives shared in class. Finally the beginning of the ‘job hunt’ also added some spice to the session: a lot of networking, discovering interesting companies, interviews, a bit of nerves and uncertainty in the process….
Session 4 is coming soon!!
We will meet our heirs, the 2013 cohort. We have already started to know them through our buddy program but will be great to meet them in person and build a strong link as the AGSM community. Also we will have many of us going on exchange and several others (about 30!) joining us from abroad. Some interesting activities lined up for this last session include: one or two Masters of Business speakers, the AGSM-MBS cup in Melbourne, some more cultural dinners, the NUS Stock Pitch Competition, among others.
Hope everyone has an amazing summer break and deeply enjoy their last session of the MBA adventure!

Consulting Club
The AGSM Consulting Club is one of the largest student run bodies at AGSM. The club wishes to thank all members who have made this year successful and run so many events throughout 2011.
We have always endeavoured to help students learn more about the consulting world so as to be informed enough to make the right choice in their careers. For those interested in pursuing a career in consulting, we have held several case preparation sessions not only internally but worked alongside the AGSM Career Services in inviting the top-tier consulting firms help our students learn the tricks of the trade and help master the all so important case-interview sessions during recruitment process.
We would like to congratulate those students who have been successful in finding employment during careers month. We wish you luck in your new job. However, for those who are yet to find luck with their career goals, AGSM Consulting Club will continue to provide support.
It is that time of the year when the full-time cohort is finishing Session 3 and many of us will be moving on to different Exchange schools in Session 4. Two members from the current cabinet, Daniel Möllerhenn, President and Fletcher Trowse, Vice-President – Events will also be moving on to different business schools on exchange. However, Sandip Pal, Vice-President (Skills Development) and Tarun Choudhary, Vice-President (Knowledge Management) will try to carry on the good work from this year through to the next, until we hand over to the new cabinet from the 2013 cohort.
Finally, the AGSM Consulting Club remains grateful to Karen Lewitton and the team from AGSM Career Services (Laura, Rachel, Winnie and Matt) who have been an invaluable support to the AGSM Consulting Club Cabinet.
We look forward to welcoming the 2013 cohort into the fold in January and on-boarding the new AGSM Consulting Club cabinet once elected. If you are not already on the AGSM Consulting Club mailing list and would like to join, have any ideas, feedback or suggestions please drop us a note at consulting@agsm.edu.au.

Marketing Club
In Session 3, members of the Marketing Club were invited to work with new Telco ‘amaysim’ and e-commerce site ‘Delivery Hero’. These are just two companies who have recognised the value of tapping into AGSM’s pool of marketing talent.
DeliveryHero.com.au recently launched as ‘the next generation Australasian online food ordering and lead generation platform’. Run by a dynamic team of MBA graduates, the Sydney based start-up enables customers to quickly and easily order food over the internet. Their mission is to create the “Number one online food delivery business in Australasia” with a simple mantra…“Delivering happiness with food.” They are currently running a competition at AGSM for the best marketing strategy. AGSM has about 20 students entered. These students will have the opportunity to interview for positions with the company after graduation.
Amaysim is challenging the major mobile networks with their pay as you go sim cards, which offer rates previously unseen in Australia. The AGSM team headed up by Grant Dewar have been invited by CMO of Amaysim, Christian Magel, to come up with an innovative marketing strategy that will cut through the abundance of advertising and communication messages and effectively target the Australian youth market – particularly university students. While Phase I of the project (market research), is currently underway, Phase II’s ‘implementation’ stage will begin early next year. If you are interested in learning more about any of these projects please contact Angeles or Brianna.
In collaboration with Matt Barnett, President of the ICE Club, we have continued to host a number of impressive speakers this session including Mark Collis, Director of Innovation at Telstra and Paul Grey, co-founder of start-up Bubble Gum Interactive.
Please join the Marketing Club Facebook page for all the latest news and events.
